MOHANAN
My first cousin Mohanan, became a teacher, after graduation.
He worked in Chalavara School. His wife Sreedevi was clerk in the Electricity
Office at Cherpu.
Both of them were soft spoken and kind hearted. Mohanan read
a lot. Sreedevi has helped their servant
to build a house.
After retirement, Mohanan became diabetic. He used to walk
along the road, keeping to the left, from his home at Naruvakulangara, towards
Perumbilissery and back , via Peruvanam . Several times, we had met on the
road, exchanged greetings and passed on.
One day he was coming from Trichur, where he had gone to see
a patient in the Hospital. As was his habit, he got down from the bus at
Poochunnipadam junction and walked towards home. It was dark; he had reached
the point, where he was to turn towards the road, to the temple of Balaraman,
when a speeding bike, hit him. He died on the spot.
People on the road took him to Elite Hospital and informed
the family.
It was shortly after my brother’s death.
