HOW OLD IS MAHABHARATH?

HOW OLD IS MAHABHARATH?
We all like to claim antiquity
My ancestral home is, at least, thousand five hundred years old, because it was there, when the pooram festival at Arattupuzha began. This is a fact, corroborated by Aithihyamala, of Kottarathil Shankunny Menon.
Mahabharath is supposed to be written by Ved Vyas. Vedas were composed, when written alphabet (lipi) did not exist. Mahabharath has Samskrutham lipi and perfect grammar; remember that it was Panini, a genius, who made the grammar of this language. It is said that this grammar is so scientific, that it can easily be used for computerization.
One thing is glaring: the iron age began earlier than this epic. Both sharp arrows, tipped with iron cap, capable of piercing the skin of animals of prey, and, wheels of horse carts called ‘ratham’, with iron belt, were available at that time. There is mention of these things, even in Ramayana, supposed to be much earlier than Mahabharat.
Western historians believe that Mahabharath war took place, after the death of Christ. They call it the first Panipat war !

Such a voluminous book cannot be written in palm leaf granthas by one man, because it takes a long time, to write in these leaves. Most probably, a number of writers contributed in composing it, over a period of time.
