MANASAROVER- WHY IS
IT NOT FROZEN?
It is the biggest lake, at the highest level, in the Himalayas,
considered to be the most venerable pilgrimage for Hindus. The temperature in
this region remains below the freezing point , but the lake remains
comparatively warm and people take bath in the water. A scientific explanation
is that the lake is fed by subterranean water channels, coming from the hot bowels
of the rock system.
It is clear that the Hindus used to go there, even from the
past several thousand years. It may be, that the level of the mountain was low,
at that time. Himalayas are growing up even now.
