KERALAM-11

HOUSE
The work of construction was given to contactor Jayaraman. He estimated the cost, as twelve lakhs, the plinth area being 1200 sft. I had some savings in the form of Kisan Vikas Pathram, Fixed Deposit in Bank etc. but it was far short of the cost. My daughters promised to meet the remaining cost. Some gold ornaments too were pledged in SBI and got some money.

At this period, Sreeja became pregnant. I considered it a good omen. The work went on for several months. The walls were made of bricks. Some important items like terrace was made, using river sand. Unimportant parts like walls, were made, using rock dust, available in plenty in local quarries. After completion, ‘vasthu pooja’ was conducted by the tantric Damu. After occupying this house, Sreeja delivered a girl, named Vaikha. She is now four years old.
