THE RELEVANCE OF AAP IN NATIONAL POLITICS

THE RELEVANCE OF AAP IN NATIONAL POLITICS
With the Modi tsunami wiping out the Indian National Congress, there is no opposition Party in India.

For proper functioning of democracy, opposition is a must. Though extinct as a party, the ideology of the Congress (the middle path) is favoured by the majority of Indians. Nehru, who was a true democrat, appointed Shyama Prasad Mukherji of the Hindu Mahasabha, as a Minister in the first Cabinet. Today, there are strong opposition parties in all regions, but they are irrelevant in the National scene. It is in this context, that the AAP becomes important in our democracy. Even if the AAP fails to come to power in the election to the Delhi State, the very fact that the Congress is supporting it is significant. In all regions, there is considerable opposition to the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. They will vote for the AAP-Congress alliance in the coming elections to the States and in Panchayath elections at the grass roots level, paving the way to a come back, in the next Parliamentary elections. The Modi party will be thoroughly discredited by that time.
