CONFLICT NEAR TIRUPATHY FOREST Several people were shot dead by the Andhra Police in an ‘encounter’. This area is rich in ‘rakthachandan’ much in demand in China. People used to cut the trees like sandalwood smugglers. The theory of encounter is discounted by commentators. But the Police maintains that they were Naxalites who snatched guns from the Police. As the people killed, belong to Tamilnadu , the relations between the two neighbours have become explosive. ADMK is angry with the Andhra Government. It is necessary to conduct independent enquiry, to uncover the truth.
