MAID SERVANT.

MAID SERVANT.
This is not fiction.
My wife had to go to Keralam, for selling our house at Chandrasekharapuram, which was bought in her name. I had to manage the two children-Ananya and Anoushka, who were eight and six years old. We had told our watchman of Deepa Apartments for trying to spot a servant. Himself a Nepali, he brought a young girl from that land. She was fair but not beautiful nor ugly. Her one condition was that she should not be treated as maid, but as one of the family. This was agreed. We bought soap, comb etc. and gave her.

She took half an hour for her bath and make up and was always neat and tidy. That is OK. She would have a towel always in one hand to clean the kitchen slab always clean. If a drop of cooked dhal or rice falls there, it is wiped immediately. I was impressed. As Leena and Ravi go to work, I was her companion She asked me to teach her, to speak English and type on the computer.  She had one weakness for a Nepali boy whom she called bhaiya. Actually he was her lover, she confessed to me. Her parents were forcing her to marry another boy. It was to escape from this, that she ran away from home.  The bhaiya was already working in Delhi. People observed the going about, hand in hand, inside the society and complained to Ravi. So she was shunted out. I began making food for the noon. For cleaning the house, another elderly woman from Madhyapradesh was engaged.
