TO AMRITSAR – WAGAH BORDER SHOWS THE WAY

Amritsar and Lahore are very very near to each other. Indian buses go there and Pakistani buses come here daily.
At Wagah border, there is an “INDIA” gate and a “PAKISTAN” gate. When the buses go through these points, people on both sides become frenzied and shout slogans !
Because of media publicity, now all pilgrims to the GOLDEN TEMPLE, the world renowned Gurudwara (temple) of Sikhs, our Prime Minister is one, make it a point to see the Wagah border, where the soldiers of both countries on horse back go from one end to the other, of the common ground between the Gates!
Golden temple is very clean. We are welcomed like hosts, offered water to drink, and led through a small depression in the floor, through which warm water flows, automatically washing our feet!
There is round the clock free lunch for pilgrims.  Hindus, Muslims, Christians and others are all welcome here. No servants, all work is done by Slkh devotees!

RETURN JOURNEY, WE FELT SAD

We were returning to Delhi at maximum speed.
My grand daughter, Meghna, saw a body, with the head crushed and blood flowing still flowing, lying on the road. A small group of people were standing by, unable to contact the police, the spot being far away, in a remote locality. The time was well past nine in the night, extremely cold.
I could not forget it even now. How long will they wait there? Will the police extract money from the innocent villagers? Will they have money with them? How will his mother, sister or wife survive? If he is the sole bread winner?
Should not the High Way authorities make some arrangement for helping such people? They are collecting a lot of money as toll.
