During the great depression of the 193o-39, period, American arms manufacturers made billions of dollars profit, by supplying military hardware to Hitler.
The novel THE EAGLES GATHER is a vivid description of this theme. They knew that Hitler would attack France and England. So they supplied arms to these countries also. At the end of the war in1945, America became a Super Power in terms of economy as well as miltary strength.
But this time there is a defference. Now capitalism has no home. There is only Global Capitalism. So enemies were invented. Weapons of mass destrucion were “ready ” with Saddam Hussain, they alleged. What is the cost of all bombs and rockets showered in Baghdad ? That is clear profit for arms manufacturers.
Now there is Afghanistan.
