HISTORY-CHINA- THE LONG MARCH.

CHINA
THE LONG MARCH.
Karl  Marx believed that the working class is going to be the vanguard of revolutionary forces..
In China, they were a minority. There peasants were used to take up arms against the Government. Mao realized the potential of the peasantry. He and his friends who believed in Marxism, began a movement in the province of Yenan, in the South. They explained to the people that the Government must be overthrown by the people. They formed units to do their activities . The study of Maxism was very important. After some time, they moved on towards the North. In the country side, after the overthrow of the Emperor , there was a political vacuum. Chiang Kaishek was only a name. He amassed a fortune swallowing money received from the US and did nothing to fight the Japanese, who attacked Manchuria and bombarded the area. Mao had slowly reached the North and took over the fight in that area. It is said that the Japs. had distributed notices, promising good Government, to the  people. The other side of the notices were used by the communists to convey their messages! Read the book THE UNFINISHED REVOLUTION IN CHINA , written by Israel Epstean, who had spent several months in the caves, along with Mao.

The army of Chiang steadily withdrew towards the south, and dug in, for a final defence on the southern bank of the river Yangsee.
