HISTORY-CIVIL WAR IN THE US
Following the abolition of slavery, there was civil war in
the United States. The southern states, where plantations were located, could
not manage without slaves, as shortage of labour was acute at that time. Now
also, Mexico is providing the work force.
The two armies were different in quality. The southerners
were having trained men to lead the forces.
In the northern army it was men who could donate more money, who were
chosen as commanders. The result was
prolonged war,
After the victory of the industrial north, slaves who became free, could not find work
and they fled to the north. It took a long time, for things to settle. Lawlessness prevailed for a long time.
Robbery and theft became common.
Was it necessary to go to war, to settle the matter? Would
not natural growth result in social change? All bloody revolutions came to
naught in course of time. Russia reverted to capitalism. The number of people
killed was heavy. Was it necessary to sacrify lives?
