We were all staying in Delhi.
During summer vacation, we had come to dear Keralam. At Palakkad, we got down and went to Soya’s place. There were several baggage, which we decided to leave there, as it was the central place. We proceeded to see relatives near Trichur, Thirunnavaya, Kadambuzha etc. and the last day, we were camping at my son-in-law Damodaran’s home at Vallachira.
In the early morning I went for a walk. When I returned at about 8 AM, Sudha told me we have to go to Ernakulam, to see Damodaran’s mother, who was staying with another son, at Palarivattam, Ernakulam
I tried in vain to advise her that it is impossible to go all the way to Ernakulam and come back to Palakad, where our baggage is lying. The train arrives at about six in the evening.
So we hurriedly got ready and went by fast bus, reaching Ernakulam by about ten. After seeing the old lady and enjoying the break fast, I told my people to return soon; but they (our hosts) insisted that we must have lunch also there.
At about two, we started by bus. We chose the coastal route via Kodungallur. It took considerable time to reach Kodungallur. The next bus for Trichur was not available immediately and we waited impatiently. In the end, when we reached Palakad town stand, it was past 5 PM.
I TOLD THEM TO GO DIRECT TO THE RAILWAY STATION. I hurried to Soya’s house in the railway colony. Rajasekharan, my cousin, was there. We put the baggage in an autorickshaw and hurried to the station. The train was standing at the station. Somehow we managed to put everything in the railway compartment.
I thanked Him and resolved not to go any where on the day of departure.
