BOREDOM
I am bored, having nothing to do. Both my wife and I get pension from the Government and we have no land to make us busy or children to worry about
To engage workmen, is beyond our pocket and no one is ready to work on wages. If we manage somehow, the cost will be high, because you have to buy cow dung and ashes and other fertilizers . So I began drinking. My wife has no objection and our neighbor, a Christian, will join me for company. His wife may bring chicken or fried fish. If she is there, the ladies will keep away from us gossiping. Thus my wife will know all about what is going on in the village.
“You know the driver who went to Dubai, ten years ago? He was to come for his marriage; even the date was fixed. He died in a car accident yesterday. His own car hit the divider and burnt to ashes. Poor fellow. He was the sole bread winner for his mother and two sisters , “ Maggy told my wife Supriya.
I used to go and sit, chit chatting with Maggy in her shop. We used to by provisions and vegetables from her. Often she will borrow money but return on the date mentioned. They have several children and live on the income from the shop. She is forty, still maintains her body . Her breasts have begun to fall only slightly; her eyes are big and teeth white and shining. Often we used to enjoy sex, when her husband goes away on business Thus time passed, in spite of boredom.
One day my friend returned from the Gulf, as conditions there became difficult; many were retrenched without notice. I told him that we shall discuss how we can help him. I told my wife to give him our guest room and went to see Maggy. She cautioned me to be careful and not to be carried away by sentiments. I told her t come to my house in the evening, along with her husband.
In the meeting, there were suggestions for starting a pig farm, a fish pond et. I suggested a diary:”The Namboodiri’s estate is big and full of grass. We can get it on loan. He may take shares also.”
All agreed and the work proceeded quickly. We had our own vehicles to deliver milk and all were happy.
One day, I went home and found my wife and guest in the same bed. Without making sound I rushed to Maggy and told her. She just smiled:”Every woman wants a change; have we not enjoyed sex?” She pulled my hand:”Come home, my man is not there.”
