VISHU

VISHU
Normally, Vishu comes on the fourteenth of this month ; this time it is on the fifteenth. This festival is celebrated only in Keralam. The significance of the day is that the Sun comes exactly OVER OUR HEAD AT NOON.
This is the occasion when we have fire works  at home. After seeing the kani (photo of Krishna, laburnum flowers or kanikonna as it is called here, half of a coconut, a piece of gold, vellarika or yellow cucumber etc. are placed and lighted early morning by a lamp) children enjoy light fire works. In the morning after bath, the head of the family gives money to all members of the family. This is the routine on Vishu.

I wish you all happy Vishu !
