On August 6 in 1945, the people of Hiroshima, in Japan, were cynically bombarded, using a new weapon of mass destruction, still to be tested in war, the atom bomb!
At that time, there were only five bombs, ready for use. There was a debate about one or two bombs being tested in the war zone in Asia. The scientists were in favour of testing it in a desert to avoid loss of life. However, the final decision by the military establishment was to use it in war(the war was over; only the formal surrender was to be announced) and the President of the United States gave in…….Did they want to tell the world that they have the power, and are willing to use it, to destroy the enemy? A warning to communist Russia?
There are any number of Days, from husbands’ day to population day; but not this day which ought to be observed as THE DARKEST DAY IN THE HISTORY OF MAN.
The world should wake up to the fact that any country in the world is today capable of making atom bomb and we all must demand the stoppage of production and testing of all nuclear weapons!
Tomorrow, it may be too late.
