After reaching Haridwar,,we stayed in the rest house on the bank of the Ganga. We had spent nine days in our travel in the mountains, but were eas fresh as when we began our journey. Now we spent one day here, to enjoy the river . The next day we went to see Dehradoon. We hired two cars. The main attraction of this capital of Uttaranchal is the hill on top of which is the cable car for which we booked tickets. As the capacity of the cars is limited, we had to spend a lot of time waiting. We roamed in the mall, business centre. At last our number came and we go into it.
The car soared in the sky, over a deep valley and then we reached another hill top. Here we were shown through the telescope, both the Ganga and the Yamuna, as two lines. This is the only place where we can see both, told the guide. There were fancy dress shops where we can wear an dress and get photographed. Of course, it was great fun. We felt that the waiting .was worth the while. But we had to skip our meal, as the cars in which we had kept the food had left to come back only at five. The vehicles then sped at break neck speed, down the hill. After reaching our rest place, we toook the food, consisting of mixed rice and vegetables which were tasty, but stale.
The next day we booked tickets to Delhi, through a travel agency. They offered to take us in an AC bus and we paid the charges for our group. In the morning we were ready at eight. They told us to come in their van, to the bus point. After reaching there, we found it was Government Transport bus, of course air conditioned, but tickets were cheap. We became helpless and had to gulp it.
On the way, we all felt the urge to vomit and stopped the bus. Others had loose motion. It was because of the stale food we had for supper. At Delhi we dispersed and some of us stayed with Sudha my daughter. We toured the capital city in tourist bus. My brother was very happy to see Theen Moorthy Bhavan, the residence of Nehru. He wanted to remain there for hours, but we were helpless.
