Calorie is the heat content of any body. Temperature is the measure of its hotness, i.e., how hot it is Stand before a fire. The hotness can be measured by a thermometer. But how much is the volume of heat coming out of the fire? That is the calorie.
If you compare to electricity, temperature can be its voltage. An electric bulb is not hot but its voltage is very high. It cannot turn a fan. Or, the height of of a water tank is its temperature. The volume of water is like the calorie.
A thumb rule is that one gram of any dry substance, except fat, can produce four calorie heat. Fat can produce double that quantity of heat. That is why doctors tell you to avoid fat.
When you walk or do any exercise, the body will not allow fat to be used. It Is stored for use in emergency, when no food is eaten. Even proteins are first used, leaving fat undisturbed. So if you want to reduce fat, it should be taken in. Substitute oils are equally harmful.
Calorie Balance
first calculate the calorie required for doing your normal work. A student needs more calorie than a manual worker, because, the brain consumes unimaginable quantity of glucose.
Now you decide how much you must eat. Leafy vegetables produce less calorie; at the.same time,, it is highly nutritious.
