HINDU TEMPLES WERE COMMUNITY CENTRES Long, long ago, our temples were the centres where Vedas were taught. There are Ootupuras where free food was given. This practice is still in existence in several places. When there was no transport, people used to go to Kashi on foot, resting at temples, for food and shelter. Marriage, annaprasham etc. are still solemnised in temples.
