(NIR)ADHAR
Adhar is the primary identification number of every Indian,
similar to the National Security Number of the United States.
Even for opening a bank account, it was necessary to show
the Adhar card. Crores of rupees were spent. People waited patiently for hours,
to get their eyes and finger prints photographed. But the work remains
incomplete. There were reports that Adhar cards were thrown in the road, as
postmen did not have time to reach houses.
In the North East, the migrants managed to get Adhar cards.
It was shown in TV channels that false cards can be made by computer experts.
It may be because of these considerations that the Supreme Court has now ruled
that Adhar cards are not necessary in any Government departments or banks etc.
