SALES TAX ARREARS

SALES TAX  ARREARS
Information obtained from ‘Right To Information Act’ as released in a TV channel, show that crores of sales tax is to be recovered from merchants in various districts of Keralam. Kochi and Trichur top the list.

Why no action is taken till now, is clear. Government servants are not serving the Government. They are Merchants servants. What about the ministers?

A SAD DAY

A SAD DAY
Today is the anniversary (prathishthadivasam) of the installation of the deity of Sastha temple at Chathakudam. I is celebrated with enthusiasm by the devotees. Procession on elephant , drum beating , niramala in the evening etc. are the usual items. All are given free feast, with sweet pudding.
At about 11, a devotee lost control of his natural urge and threw his excreta inside the four inner walls of the temple. Hari Warriar had to remove it.

Then the premises had to be purified by rituals. The elephant procession was delayed by two hours. When I heard about it, I felt very sad .

CHURNING WITHIN CPI

CHURNING WITHIN  CPI
A State level convention of CPI is going on in Keralam. Anew leader has been elected , who is openly critical of the big brother attitude of the CPM. Achuthandan is participating in the proceedings.
M.A.Baby has opined that a new Communist outfit of all leftists, believing in Marxism, must form a new party. All should abandon their personal ambitions and work sincerely for the success of the party.

Will it happen?

STORY-VACILLATING HEART

STORY
My father is a Railway employee. We were staying at Jaipur near the Civil Station, in a big house, owned by Durgadanji. We had only a small room but being a girl, I had freedom to go anywhere inside. Maji had a cow and we used to take milk from her. Her husband was BDO and used to come rarely.  In the evening, Gurgadanji, who was Director in the State Government, used to relax in his ‘charpoy’ placed in the front garden. I used to sit there and study, as it was hot inside our room. The old man used to talk to me and I would ask questions about the things I could not understand. I was in the tenth standard.
The BDO has two sons. Om, the elder, was in the college and was rarely seen. His brother Gobind, ten years old, was naughty. He would peep through the ventilator , when I am taking bath. I would then throw water on his face. At heart, I enjoyed it.
After passing tenth, I joined college in Delhi . My contact with the BDO family was lost. In the college, I had several girl friends  and a few boys. One belonged to the Bajaj family and we felt we were in love, though both of us did not mention the word. He used to come in his car. Often we used to roam about.
My father retired and settled in our home town near Amrithsar. Often I used to think of the days I spent at Jaipur. Is Gobind still naughty?
I got a job in the Railway, by the influence of my father. This time I got a Railway quarter hired from a friend of my father. He had a spare room and I paid only a small rent.
One day I went to see the BDO family. Durgadanji was no more, Gobind has become very tall and was doing business in the town. Om was there, still unmarried, Maji told me. “Why don’t you marry him?” You have to talk to my parents.” Gobind began visiting me often. He has a scooter. He would take me to see films and dine at costly restaurants. He never misbehaved. I wished at heart, he became naughty again. I was eager to hear the words “I love you” from Gobind, but held myself in check and behaved cool . Can I tell Maji?.
Suddenly Bajaj came “I tried hard to get your address . Some of our friends told me you are in the railway and then I managed to get it right. Take some days leave”

“But, you must speak to my parents first.” “Yes , first we go there.” So, suddenly I got detached from Gobind. I felt sorry. Of course, my parents were too happy to have a Bajaj as son-in-law.

A TRIAL RUN

A TRIAL RUN
Yesterday being Sunday, I could not go to any school or Civil Station.  So, decided to try my luck at Guruvayoor temple. One copy was sold in the bus itself. The fellow sitting next to me , bought one.
After getting down from the bus, I held the book in one hand but none minded it. Then a gentleman from Andhra Pradesh bought  ten copies for two hundred. He is a publisher and promised to call me later.

All other copies were sold inside the temple. As new people are coming every day, ‘darsan’ of Guruvayoorappan is good, in more ways than one. I get free food also.

BUDGET

BUDGET
The budget presented in Parliament, is really a dream budget; there is not an iota of truth in it.
Statistics show that growth is less than one percent. In spite of all rhetoric by ebullient Modi, no company has come forward to invest in India. The world is witnessing decreasing demand. The educated unemployed people are not likely to get work. How can local demand go up, when people do not get wages?
The only solution is, to invest heavily in infrastructure projects. This not listed in the budget. Income from the wealthy men has been reduced. The proposal to sell out public sector  assets, is selling India to outsiders.
TAX ARREARS

The law must be amended. Tax assessed by the department, must be deposited without demur. Afterwards, if it is found to be unjust, the same can be refunded or adjusted. This way arrears will disappear.

POWER CIRCUS IN KASHMIR

POWER CIRCUS IN KASHMIR

To BJP, power is sweeter then bitter principles.  Mufthi Mohammed is to be the Chief Minister.  A terrorist is included in the cabinet. It is a triumph of Pakistan, according to Congress sources. The other small parties opposed to BJP are also angry. Why did they not come together and support PDP? Mufthi’s strategy is sound. She will now get full support from the Central Government.
